Higher Institute for Plastic Fabrication was established in September 2007 as a non-profit institute under the initiative of the Ministry of Energy. An agreement was signed between Technical and Vocational Training (TVTC), and Eastern Petroleum Company (SHARQ) SABIC. The Japanese joint venture of SHARQ (SPDC) participated in the establishment of HIPF. HIPF is the first of its kind specialized in qualifying national workforce as skilled professionals in the flourishing plastic industry in the Kingdom through a training program that is fully being offered in English language under the supervision of Japanese experts from the best Japanese plastics companies. The training is being delivered by long experienced engineers from India, the Philippines in addition to the Saudi engineers who benefited from the Saudi government scholarship programs. HIPF is located in the second industrial zone in Riyadh on an area of 60 thousand square meters and the training workshops contains 68 state of the art production lines of the best factories in the world. HIPF receives secondary school graduates who were not been idle for more than three years after graduation. After series of interviews and the English language placement tests, 150 applicants are being accepted.
